As a lead data scientist at Source, you will be leading teams working on models that predict and control plant growth and climate in high-tech greenhouses.

Building complex suites of machine learning and optimization models to predict and control the greenhouse climate & plant phenotype
Deploying software products in the real world, with an end-to-end mindset, from connecting to live data pipelines to monitoring a productionized model
Leading a team of talented individuals, data scientists, plant scientists, and software engineers; and collaborating closely with a product manager and product analysts to deliver full-fledged products to our customers
Owning your work end-to-end, with opportunities to show initiative and define your course of action, gradually expanding your scope
Coaching a team of data scientists to develop both their technical & soft skills
Support your team with some hands-on work, you like to get your hands dirty
Supporting the team of software engineers in order to coordinate architecture decisions, technical build & deployment with model development
Working hand-in-hand with growers to deeply understand the problems at stake & defining ways to solve them
You have a natural curiosity and you love to find the right solution for a specific problem. We expect you to be especially eager to learn the Plant Science aspect of our business which is critical to the success of our models. Further, you have:
MSc or Ph.D. degree in a quantitative discipline
Proven track record of independently developing machine learning/optimization models, in a production environment
Experience with leading a diverse team to deliver end-to-end AI products
Business acumen, able to consider both technical and operational aspects in making decisions
Good knowledge of software development best practices, as well as cloud deployment principles
Clear presentation and communication skills with the ability to explain complex analytical concepts to people from other fields
Structured problem-solving abilities, to organize work both for yourself and for the team
Bonus points if you have
A combined experience of optimization methods and machine learning methods
Experience with deployment in the cloud (AWS)
